Why Palette and Pitch
It’s simple: Makeup comes in palettes, and marketing starts with a pitch. (Plus “Makeup and Marketing” doesn’t have the same impact.) You’ll find more of the “palette” stuff on this blog, where I use long-form writing to explore my favorite things about makeup and cosmetics. The “pitch” comes with the P&P Insider Edition, my dedicated Substack for true-blue junkies and would-be insiders who want to dive deeper into the mechanics of marketing in the Philippine beauty space.
Since beauty is the main pillar of Palette & Pitch, expect a lot of makeup, skincare, hair and fragrance content. And it’s not all P-beauty either; there will also be features on international brands in the PH and SEA market. Expect those features to also include side trips for travel and events.
The Brains Behind the Pitch
Let me disclose this straight up: I am not a beauty insider in the traditional sense. I, like you, am an avid consumer of beauty content and products. Why? Because pretty and sparkly things make me happy.
But I do have a marketing background, having worked in public relations, SEO, and brand strategy for seven years (and counting) as part of my long and varied portfolio career. Combine that with the fact that I’ve been making beauty content for far longer, and that I’m re-joining the beauty space as a “woman of a certain age,” and you’ve got someone with a unique perspective on where the Philippine beauty industry is going.
But Why Long-Form Writing?
“But all the big beauty creators are on Tiktok!” So? I don’t think I have the patience to maintain talking on camera for a prolonged period of time. Writing will always be my forte, and I will write for those who are willing to take a chance on long-form content. That’s the way it will have to be moving forward.
